Care advice for your electric scooter

General

  • Drive around with the correct tire pressure, otherwise there is a high risk of getting a flat tire. The tire pressure is indicated on the tire and should be checked at least once every two weeks.
  • Never wash an electric scooter under running water and definitely not with a pressure washer. Use a slightly damp cloth, sponge, or wet wipes. Electric scooters may be poorly water-resistant.
  • Do not ride in the rain or on overly wet surfaces. Read more about IP Classificationhere.
  • Screws can loosen during driving, so check that the screws are properly tightened. A tip is to apply some thread lock, blue Loctite (243) on screws that tend to loosen easily. Do not tighten screws too much as it can damage the threads.
  • Do not turn the handlebars too much to the right or left when leading the electric scooter. It puts stress on the cables which may break.
  • The brakes may need to be bled upon delivery. This is normal and not a fault. Bleeding the brakes is part of the maintenance and will need to be done regularly.

Battery Lifespan

To ensure maximum lifespan of the battery, it is important to follow the maintenance advice:

  • Lithium batteries do not like to be completely discharged.
  • Do not charge the battery immediately after a ride. Wait about 30 minutes.
  • Never charge a scooter that is colder than 0 degrees. It damages the battery.
  • Turn off the motor brake during winter. (Pa=0)

Storage

  • Before you put your electric scooter away for the season, you should charge the battery to about 50-60% and then maintain charge it every other month as the battery loses capacity even when not in use. Never store a battery fully charged.
  • NEVER leave the charger plugged in for an extended period as it can drain the battery.
  • A battery is drained if it is completely discharged, which can happen if it is not maintained.
  • During the winter season, your electric scooter should be stored under favorable conditions and not outdoors in freezing temperatures.
  • The greatest risk of a battery fire occurs during charging. Never charge a lithium battery unattended. Therefore, one should avoid charging a battery overnight due to the fire risk and the potentially life-threatening consequences. This applies to all products with lithium batteries. However, there is no need to worry unnecessarily as our electric scooters and batteries are of very high quality. It is usually cheap products/batteries that can catch fire during charging.
